Personal Information:

   1984年本科毕业于同济大学建筑系,工作之后一直就职于北京市建筑设计研究院有限公司。现为北京市建筑设计研究院有限公司执行总建筑师兼院方案创作工作室(UFo)主任;中国建筑学会建筑师分会理事长。

   Mr. Shao Weiping graduated from Tongji University in 1984 and has since been working at BIAD. Currently, Mr. Shao is the Executive Chief Architect of BIAD, Director of BIAD UFo (Un-Forbidden office), College Professor, Executive Member and President of CHINAASC (THE ARCHITECTURAL SOCIETY OF CHINA) and a Senior Advisor to the Central Government.

   代表作品有首都机场三号航站楼(合作)、奥林匹克中心区下沉广场(1、4、5号院)、北京凤凰国际传媒中心、中国驻印度使馆新主楼等。

   Representative Works include: Beijing International Airport Terminal 3 (Co-Design with Norman Foster),Sunken Gardens in the Olympic Green (Garden No. 1, 4, 5), Beijing Phoenix International Media Center, and the New Chinese Embassy in India.

   本人获2001年建设部劳动模范;2002年国务院特殊津贴获得者;第十批北京市有突出贡献的科教学、技术、管理人才获得者。

   Mr. Shao has received the 2001 Outstanding Contribution Award from the Chinese Ministry of Construction, the 2002 Special Scholar Grant from the Chinese Central Government, and the 10th Beijing Outstanding Contribution Award in Science, Technology and Management.

Architectural Theory:

   建筑师不仅仅要关注形式美学,更重要的要学会利用自己手中的艺术工具--建筑材料和构件来体现建筑内在美。应用手工艺术家的眼光和现代新技术手段为设计服务,从而使建筑不仅作为功能存在,也同样有可能成为城市环境的艺术精品。

   Good architects should not only focus on the aesthetics of the building, but also on the artistic means of construction such as an elegant use of material and structural components to achieve quality architectural design. Architects should combine their artistic vision with modern design technologies to enable architecture to exist as both a logical functional space and urban sculpture.

   建筑作为文化的载体,与社会生活密切相关。这因为建筑不仅具有使用价值,同时存在文化信息传承功能,而且它可被长久的保留,影响着人类的生活与发展。建筑师必须从文化地域传统中吸取营养,增加建筑文化附加值。成功的建筑应同时接受现代审美和传统文化的双重考验。

   Architecture is cultural medium, which also reflects society and social life. Therefore, architectural design does not only provide a functional space for its users, but also represents the local culture, having a long lasting impact on the daily lives of people. Architects should study the local culture well and raise cultural values through their designs. A successful architectural design should fit into both traditional culture and a modern aesthetic.

   城市的有机更新是避免出现历史断层的正确之路。尽量保留或改造利用已经存在的街道空间和建筑景观,让城市具有历史的痕迹,传递思想的信息,会使城市更具内涵。同时也是一种节约资源的生活态度

   When a city is in need of new development, the urban designers and planners should first consider upgrading the city organically to avoid a historical gap instead of demolishing the entire area. Preserving the historical architecture and modifying the existing streets can provide opportunities for the younger generations to trace the history of the city.  In addition this approach is more environmental friendly, saving material and energy.

   作为中方设计总负责人领导了T3从方案深化到施工配合全过程的设计工作。T3是中国第一个建成的真正意义上的枢纽机场航站楼。T3航站楼设计中体现了当今航空领域最先进的技术和理念,是理性与诗意并存的建筑经典之作。

   As the executive project manager and designer, Mr. Shao led the BIAD architectural and engineering design team from the design development stage to the construction documentation stage. Beijing International Airport Terminal 3 employs the most advanced methods in airport design and technology available. It is the first airport terminal in China to be designed as an intermodal transportation hub.

   为了营造戏剧化气氛,建筑在外形处理上采用一个具有空气动力学曲线特征的三维屋面将三座分离的建筑分别覆盖,并深深地悬挑出外幕墙,特别是在陆侧车道边上空,悬挑达50m之多,超尺度的挑檐既有遮挡风雨和防晒的作用,又制造了一种令人难忘的出行体验。

   Terminal 3 has an aerodynamic curved roof with a cantilever of 50 meters, providing protection from the weather for passengers waiting to embark on their journey. It embraces three individual towers into one. It also provides vertical shading to the façade. This functional design element is a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional Chinese roof.

   充分利用自然采光降低人工照明的能耗。结合航站楼构型设计尽量减少建筑的进深,保持建筑的外表皮开敞透明,这样可使大部分候机空间在正常情况下可通过日光来保持室内正常照度。外幕墙设计吸取了以往同类工程的经验,创造性地采用了悬挂幕墙体系,从而达到比以往的项目更加通透、更富艺术表现力的效果。

   T3 terminal makes such great use of natural lighting that most public area do not require artificial lighting during the day, substantially lowering energy costs. The glass façade uses “hanging curtain wall system” which provides a pure transparent view through the façade’s structural system.

   通过首都机场三号航站楼设计实践大大提高了机场航站楼设计水平,培养了一批高素质和专业齐备的机场航站楼设计人才队伍。北京市建筑设计研究院的机场设计团队已成为国内机场航站楼设计方面最具竞争力的团队。

   The terminal 3 project has provided BIAD architects and engineers with a unique training opportunity from the top international architects in the airport design field. From this experience BIAD has grown to become one of the strongest airport design teams in China.

ProjectsBeijing Phoenix International Media Center

   建筑位于朝阳公园西南角,周边道路和用地红线将基地围合成不规则的平面,莫比乌斯环很好的适应了环境特点,富于动感的莫比乌斯环造型南高北低巧妙的避开了住宅的日照遮挡问题。莫比乌斯环在东西两侧微微翘起,形成两个富于动感的入口意向,使封闭内院变得开敞,使街道、建筑、公园形成一个连续的、和谐的城市空间关系。

   This project is located in Chao Yang Park, Beijing. The shape of the building is adjusted to the irregular alignment of the surrounding roads. The building shape is inspired by the form of a Mobius strip. It is lower to the north and higher to the south, providing abundant sunshine and air circulation to the residential building north of the site. Two dynamic entrances welcome the public into a central courtyard and create a comfortable atmosphere between the local streets, the building and the park.

   设计的中都倡导绿色建筑理念。园润的莫比乌斯环造型即可减少建筑的表面积,同时对极端气象条件下的街道飓风具有消纳作用,改善城市小气候。双层表皮的外墙构造可大大减低建筑运行的能耗。具有美学效果的外壳金属钢结构主肋,同时具有装饰、遮阳、结构三重功能。为了在过渡季节节省空调,外幕墙设计了足够的开启扇,已组织空气流动,既舒适又节能。运用低能耗设备,分层空调及雨水收集在本工程中都有体现。

   The smooth surface inspired by the Mobius strip lowered the overall surface area of the building. The double façade system not only improves the natural working environment of the office area, but also lowers energy costs. The steel structure functions as support, shading device, and decoration, creating an exhilarating interior space. The upper glass panels are operable enabling natural ventilation through the building. The drainage system is set along the exterior of the steel structure. Rain water flows through the site to the water figure as part of the landscape design. The exterior of the building acts as a "green coat" to mediate the extreme effects of the external environment.

   由于莫比乌斯环造型是一个极具动感的三维复杂形体,所有建筑可视构件均通过三维协同的模式进行设计和优化,真正实现了参数化设计的理念。是一个具有里程碑式的设计实践成果。

   The architectural form inspired by the Mobius strip involves many complex 3D geometries. Parametric design was employed both the architectural/engineering design and the construction/fabrication stages of the project. Because of these technical advances, the Phoenix International Media Center is a great milestone in the history of contemporary Chinese architecture and parametric design.
